JOIN US FOR A WEEK OF CULINARY EXPERIENCES

OAXACA, MEXICO - MONDAY Jan 18 - SATURDAY Jan 23 2027

Hosted by Alacrity Destination Services in collaboration with Oaxaca Street Food Tours

Join us January 18 through January 22, 2027, in Oaxaca, Mexico, and explore the food and culture of the region.

Our home base for five nights is Hotel de la Parra, a charming boutique hotel and a short walk from the Zócalo and Benito Juárez Market. Betsy from Oaxacan Street Food Tours will guide us through local markets, take us to a working farm, and introduce us to the food and traditions that make Oaxaca unlike anywhere else in Mexico.

We will learn how to make tortillas, salsas, and quesillo, the regional cheese known outside Oaxaca as queso Oaxaca. Along the way, we will taste traditional dishes, including memelas and tlayudas, and legendary moles.

There's plenty more on the menu. Our itinerary includes a guided walking tour of the city and a visit to Teotitlán del Valle. A historic Zapotec village famous for handwoven wool rugs made with natural dyes. A chocolate workshop at Chima and a mezcal tasting at Quiote Mezcalería. A highlight we are somewhat obsessing over is the 7 course dinner at Michelin star rated restaurant, Levadura de Olla.

Guided experiences are balanced with time on your own. Giving you time to browse galleries and museums. Wander the city’s streets, linger over a long lunch, or find your favorite thing about Oaxaca.

January is an especially good time to be in Oaxaca. Daytime temperatures are typically in the 70s, and local celebrations take place throughout the region. You are likely to experience a festival or parade!

And there’s a lot of history beneath it all. People have lived in the region for more than 12,000 years. Five days won’t come close to uncovering everything, but this will be a great start.

Breakfast at the hotels restaurant is included every day, along with some lunches and dinners during our adventures. We left some room for you to explore on your own or return to a spot you wanted more time at.

Only five double-occupancy rooms are available. Book now to reserve your spot.
